Blog 4? I think
Today i want to talk a little about this entire year, all of the big projects and all the stuff I feel like i received from them. The first project that comes to mind is the National History Day project in which we had to make a presentation of some kind about a person and how they were leaders. To be completely honest this was probably one of the better projects just because we had the opportunity to really dig into one persons life and find out a bunch about that individual that we would never have known before. Like who would have ever known that President Theodore Roosevelt had 7 sets of glasses sewn into his military uniform during his time in Cuba. I don't know about you guys but that is such a legendary story to me. Also want to shout out to that kid Spencer for making it to the nationals or something. He apparently had a better presentation than me... I can't see that but whatever. Im playing, props to spencer and to everybody who made a presentation. I was truly impressed a lot of sweat and probably some tears went into all of these projects. Mr. Hoffman was also really a big support to a lot of people including me, and god knows I appreciate it. Alright well i guess i might start doing this more, just mentioning the different projects and what i feel like i gained from them... Peace

  1. I agree that the National History Day project was a strong learning experience because most of the individuals that were chosen, we had not discussed in class so it was interesting to research all that we wanted about them on our own.

  2. I also gained a lot from NHD, but what I gained most from it was experience with scholarly research. Prior to NHD, I didn't have much experience with MLA citations, and the differences between tertiary and secondary sources. The NHD Project taught me all these things, and they will be quite useful to me in college.

  3. i feel like no one can really decide if the NHD project was a strong learning experience on a whole or not because not everyone put the same about of interest, time, and effort into this project. everyone put different input so expect different outputs.

  4. I'm glad that y'all saw some merit in the NHD project; I currently learned a lot from you about what to do differently next time, and I appreciate the honest feedback about the problems you had over the course of the project. Thank you for being reflective and principled students!

  5. I agree that the NHD project was an interesting way to learn about history but I think that it was a better way to practice independent research and how to research a topic without specific guidelines of what exactly we are looking for. This could have really helped some people while others could have thought of it as just empty work.
