6th Blog of this project 10-19-14
Hello world, so this week we got an old law made in Mississippi, about how new freed slaves also had laws that they had to obey. So we read the text, and to me it seemed like a descent laws, but Mr. Hoffman really changed my point of view after telling us how these laws were manipulated by white people so that they could still have something similar to slaves. I got really kind of scared because here I was as a citizen that taught this law made sense, but after hearing Mr. Hoffman I totally changed. Like I would think that the laws would be made so that I, a student in 10 grade would be able to understand, it and most important trust it.  I also want to point out to everyone that this was just an example and this did not only happen in Mississippi. So that is why I made the question I made.

So I have a question for the rest of the world, and it is: we saw how they manipulated the laws then, do you think it is in any way possible to do something like that with the laws we have now, in modern day America?

5th Blog of this project 10-12-14

So this week, Mr. Hoffman introduced us to the concept of having the Team Timeline, which is an idea, that has groups of three people, chose 3 events that Mr. Hoffman has told us about in class, and then tell some more about them. I must say that I am really happy and excited about it. Because i think that it is really going to help me, especially when it comes to studying for tests or quizzes. I also think it is really cool, because that means that I will have the same information about one thing that everyone else has. But one thing that I would like to point out is that maybe some people might overdo it and give way to many facts, this is supposed to be something that everyone gets and does not get confused by. Now it’s just a question of what events me and my groups get. That is another thing that I also saw as a problem, that maybe you have to write a bunch about an event, that to you might be really hard to write, if it has sentimental value to you. Have a good day.
4th Blog of this project 10-05-14

Hello, so this week, we have gotten to read the American text of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" by Washington Irving. After reading just a bit of it i was set into the mood of the story. And through the entire reading all i wanted to do was to actually go to this area, because I want to see if all the descriptions are true. That is one of my biggest life goals, to travel around a lot of the world. So every time i read something that has such a good description, i just really want to go to the spot that was described. This also sounds like a very good place to farm, just the way it was described. This is reinforcement of what a lot of Dutch and Danish farmers did when they arrived to America, they would always pick the best farming spots, because they were used to the really bad dirt that was only good for growing potatoes and other vegetables. So I think that is why this Dutch settlement to me sounds like it is in a farming area, plus Dutch people are known for being good farmers.
